GODI India will make an investment of about Rs 8,000 crore to establish lithium and sodium ion and related technologies, research and development (R&D), and a giga-scale cell manufacturing facility in Telangana

In this regard, GODI India inked memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy during World Economic Forum conference in Davos on 17 January, 2024. The proposed project, aiming to have a 2.5 GWh cell assembly line in the first phase, has employment generation potential of 6,000 in this phase spread over five years, with planned expansion to 10 GWh in the second phase

GODI India, a key player in the energy storage domain, has achieved milestones such as developing Li-ion pouch and cylindrical prototype cells in its pilot production line in a short duration. Moreover, the proposed project is in line with the state government's vision of promoting adoption of electric vehicles

The company's future innovations pipeline includes sodium-ion and solid-state battery technologies, and setting up a cutting-edge cell manufacturing facility, catering to sectors such as defence and aerospace, solar and wind, telecommunications, electric vehicles, and electronics
